One of the things that we try to do at Mt Gilead is to keep everything focused on the Gospel. We have multiple church backgrounds represented in our congregation and our goal is to be true to the Scriptures and the Gospel while allowing some freedom of doctrinal interpretation. We try to live by the principle of: “In essentials, unity, in non-essentials, liberty, and in ALL things, charity.”
Our goals and efforts are focused on what Jesus focused on, Building the Kingdom of God.

We believe that the foundation for building God's Kingdom is the Gospel. And so we teach the essentials of the Gospel as you will see below. We teach devotion to Christ and surrender to the Holy Spirit. We teach being Spirit led in our day to day lives. And we teach that it is ALL about our relationship with God! He desires that we know HIM above all else.

We Believe...

That there is one true God, creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • is the eternal Son of God
  • was born of a Virgin
  • is both fully God and fully human
  • died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty of our sin
  • physically rose from the dead, ascended heaven, and one day will physically return
Holy Spirit
  • Is the Spirit of God
  • It is the Holy Spirit who moves in the hearts of mankind to repent and come to Jesus
  • He lives within Believers and witnesses to them that they are Children of God
  • He teaches us, comforts us, strengthens us and empowers us
  • He gives us gifts to better serve the Body of Christ
The Bible
  • Is the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God
  • It is God’s letter to us
  • It gives us direction, strength, hope and understanding
  • It is the WORD of God
The Church
  • Is the “Body” of Christ
  • The Church includes ALL who have placed their faith in Jesus for Salvation
  • Some day Jesus will return to take His Church
  • For salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential
  • We are enabled to live a godly life through the Holy Spirit dwelling within us
  • All believers are spiritually unified in the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Those who believe in Jesus and the work he did, and repent from sin, can be reconciled to God. They will experience true life and joy.

Be Biblical
Be Biblical

We encourage our congregation to check what we teach against God’s Word. We use scripture to back whatever we teach because the scriptures are the written Word of God.

Be Active
Be Active

Work hard! Dig deep! Large numbers are great because it means that people are being reached for Jesus. But we also realize the importance of Discipleship and we try to challenge our people to grow in their spiritual life through study and prayer. We also believe that part of that growth should be in service to the Glory of God!

Be Authentic
Be Authentic

No one likes a fake. We encourage our people to be genuine. Don’t put on a front to impress. We are all broken people who have been redeemed by a loving God. We are not perfect but we DO love Jesus with all our hearts!

Be Family
Be Family

We truly try to live this out. Family doesn’t always agree, they sometimes see the faults and problems that we have. But at Mt Gilead we are aware of the Grace God has bestowed on us and we try to pass it on! We truly enjoy being together and we think it shows!

Be creative
Be creative

We like to think outside the box. If there is a better way to reach people then we are all about it. We LOVE creativity and embrace things that work!  It is all about getting out the message and we work hard at it!

Be Healers
Be Healers

We truly want to be that church where people can come and not fear being put on the spot or being judged. We want to first introduce them to Jesus and then help them grow in their relationship with Him! We want those who are hurting to be able to heal and those who are weary to find rest. We want the lonely to find love and those in despair to find hope. You see, we know the secret! His name is Jesus!

Be Good Stewards
Be Good Stewards

Not only our finances but in every part of our lives and our church. In our use of volunteers, in the expenditures, in our giving in our time management and in all of our efforts.

Live like Jesus is your KING!
Live like Jesus is your KING!

When we have membership classes this is emphasized. “You represent Mt Gilead but far MORE importantly, you represent Jesus! Act like HE is Lord of your life!” It is important to us that we represent Him well!

Have fun.
Have fun.

Not real heavy on theology, but hugely important! Let others see your joy! Let them see who you are and how God made you. Enjoy each other. We like to say around here that “We take Jesus VERY seriously……..ourselves.not so much! “
